About the Designer

Sally Robinson (Working as Sally Thorman)

Nature has always captivated Sally. Early in her career, she worked as an outdoor activity guide and instructor, guiding sea kayaking expeditions through the fiords of New Zealand and delivering adventurous activities on the Jurassic coastline of Dorset. These experiences deepened her connection to wild landscapes and the great outdoors.

As an artist, everything clicked into place when Sally discovered garden design - a discipline which combines her greatest passions - nature, creativity, and plants. She has a deep appreciation for aesthetics and the emotional impact a beautiful environment can have. Taking inspiration from natural beauty spots from around the world, Sally seeks to create landscapes that are emotionally resonant and ecologically sensitive.

Sally graduated with First Class Honours in Horticulture with Garden and Landscape Design from the Eden Project. Throughout her studies, she was drawn to projects with purpose - assignments that explored how landscape designs can create a positive impact on people, places, and biodiversity. These values continue to guide her design approach today.

Alongside her academic work, Sally has gained hands-on horticultural experience working as a gardener and grower in both domestic and public gardens, and most recently in a market garden setting.  This practical experience gives her a deeper understanding of plant behaviours, maintainance and how gardens evolve throughout the seasons.
